Frequently Asked Questions

About Membership-Based Primary Care at Priority Care Boston

What is membership-based primary care?

Membership-based primary care—also known as concierge primary care—is a healthcare model in which patients pay a recurring membership fee in exchange for enhanced access to their primary care provider and a more personalized care experience. This model allows for longer appointments, same- or next-day scheduling, and direct communication with your doctor, all within a relationship-focused setting.

How does Priority Care Boston’s membership work?

We have started our Charter Membership. Membership fees are based on age. Family members get 15% off these rates when they join as well.

Your membership grants you enhanced access to care, including extended visits, wellness-focused services, and proactive health management.  Current Membership Rates

Does Priority Care Boston membership require insurance?

Yes. Like traditional primary care practices, we bill insurance for covered services. Your membership fee covers the enhanced access and personal care experience, but it does not replace your health insurance. In addition, insurance still requires co-payments for your visits.

What about Medicare?

Medicare is used for services provided at PCB as well as outside services such as:

  • Specialist referrals: If your doctor refers you to a specialist who accepts Medicare, Medicare can cover the specialist’s services.

  • Diagnostic tests: Lab work, imaging (like MRIs or CT scans), or other diagnostic services done at outside facilities that accept Medicare are typically covered.

  • Hospital care: If you’re hospitalized or need emergency care at a Medicare-participating facility, Medicare will cover that.

What services are included in the membership?

While specific services may vary by membership tier, memberships include:

  • Extended, unhurried office visits

  • Same- or next-day appointments

  • 24/7 access to your provider via phone, text, or email

  • Comprehensive annual physicals

  • Preventive screenings and wellness planning

  • Personalized care coordination with specialists

What makes membership-based primary care different from traditional care?

The biggest difference is enhanced access and more time. In a membership-based model, we intentionally limit the number of patients in our practice so that our members have:

  • More time during visits

  • Greater availability and responsiveness

  • Stronger doctor-patient relationships

  • Focused attention on preventive and personalized care

  • Help navigating an increasingly complex healthcare system.

Bottom line: It’s a more proactive, relationship-driven approach to your health.

Who is this model best suited for?

Membership-based primary care is ideal for:

  • Individuals seeking a more personal connection with their physician

  • Busy professionals who value convenience and flexible scheduling

  • People managing complex or chronic health conditions

  • Those who want a comprehensive, preventive approach to wellness

  • Those seeking a Boston-based healthcare home.

Why is it so hard to find a Primary care Doctor?

The healthcare system is in flux. Fewer numbers of medical students are choosing primary care, and more practicing primary care doctors are leaving the field sooner. For more info, see: â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹ https://hms.harvard.edu/news/why-finding-primary-care-doctor-so-hard
